Maggie Wheeler
Maggie Wheeler is a super-volunteer, helping with organisations and events in every corner of the city. With a professional background as CEO of the Mental Health Care Trust, she has a sincere understanding and a desire to help communities and arts organisations, to help make good things happen, especially where they are under-resourced. She became involved with Thomas Browne as a personal favour, helping with the annual Thomas Browne Day and along with me, getting the scrubbing brushes out to clean the sculptures on Hay Hill (now removed to Eaton Park). She is always available to help plan and execute events. Maggie is on the Board of charity Sing Your Heart Out, a choir which needs no auditions nor performance but is simply for the joy of singing and for the well-being of its singers Also very active with The Common Lot and its female offshoot All Mouth No Trousers who make performances and interventions from their base in Mile Cross. Maggie is also often seen with the blue bib of a Norwich Guide, helping people find their way around the city and all the good things there are to do and see. At Festival time, Maggie is at many performances helping to steward. And at election times, feeds canvassers with cake and coffee to keep them going. |
This site is part of the Thomas Browne Project with the aim to collate information and contributions about Sir Thomas Browne, his work, life and times in Norwich and make them accessible to the public, edited and published by Marion Catlin of The Shift Norwich
