Hugh Aldersey Williams

Thomas Browne Champion
Hugh Aldersey Williams

Hugh Aldersey Williams is a science writer and journalist with several publications to his name. Hugh, rather like Browne himself, is interested in linking subject areas together and is curious about many scientific topics as well as straying towards the arts - like Browne, not really seeing the division between the two. He has previously written about tides and the periodic table amongst other titles including The Adventures of Sir Thomas Browne in the 21st Century  published by Granta www.grantabooks.com. This book is an ideal introduction to Browne and his works which lays out the life-time and travels of this man, his occupation and interests as well as his various written works from his birth in London to his life and ultimate death in Norwich through stories and anecdotes which make for an easy but informative read. It helps the new Browne reader to understand the premise of each work and therefor makes it easier to understand in the original text for the average 21st century reader, most of whom are not familiar with 17th century written English.

Hugh himself settled in Norfolk, near Aylsham in his adult years, much like Browne, and has made it his home and he champions Browne wherever an opportunity arises whilst researching for more topics on which to write.
